Composer and guitarist Tom Ibarra’s third album ‘Luma’ is a group effort with songs being worked on in the studio as the album itself was being laid down. They wanted to present nine titles that would sound not only sweet but also powerful and energetic. The group has worked on sound textures and compositions, whilst retaining moments of magnificent improvisation. Initially self-taught he later joined the CMDL Music school created by the great Didier Lockwood. He has performed with artists such as Didier Lockwood and Marcus Miller also opening with his group for Marcus Miller, Earth Wind and Fire and Jamie Cullum. He has won a number of prizes since 2013; Jeunes Talents de la SACEM, Jazz Oloron, Jazz Au Phare, Action Jazz, and recently or more recently the international Letter One Rising Stars Jazz Award. ‘Luma’ is the third album for Ibarra after ’15’ in 2015 and ‘Sparkling’ in 2018.
