AVID Pop continues with its Four Classic Pop Albums series with a re-mastered 2CD release by Sam Cooke, complete with original artwork, liner notes and personnel details.
“Sam Cooke”; “Cooke’s Tour”; “Hits of the 50’s” and “Twistin’ The Night Away”
It’s time to forget all the horror stories about the late great Sam Cooke. The fact that his label seemed to be trying to turn him into a black Elvis Presley and the cries of sell out as he left his gospel origins and moved into the pop arena, all culminating in the ghastly and shocking details of his tragic death. It’s time to just settle back and listen to that voice. A voice that was truly heaven sent and that could sing just about anything including the proverbial telephone directory and make it sound beautiful, and pained and joyous, and almost all at the same time. A truly unique talent whose influence is still to be heard to this day and still to be missed to this day.
