Rachmaninov’s output of chamber music was small, but all the more precious for that reason. Piano Trios Nos.1 and 2 are absolute gems that bear witness to this conclusion. Although the products of a young composer still indisputably under the influence of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov’s personality is already fully present – reaching soaring heights of emotion and expressiveness. The album also includes works by Suk and Grieg that further highlight the exceptional artistry of Trio Wanderer.
