Les Paul, born in 1915 was not only a superb guitar player whose prowess with the instrument alone would have gained him a place in musical history, but also an innovative guitar designer and technician.
In fact he is perhaps better known as the inventor of the Gibson Les Paul solid body guitar as “modelled” by the likes of Paul McCartney and Slash!
Starting his career playing a more country orientated music he moved on to his jazz style in the 1940’s playing with the likes of Art Tatum, Willie Smith, Billy May, Lionel Hampton, Harry “Sweets” Edison, Nat King Cole, Illinois Jaquet, and J.J.Johnson all of whom are featured here on this superbly re-mastered double CD.
For Collectors attention this disc also uses the original Armed Forces Radio Services broadcasts and for the very first time the AFRS’s announcements are also included!
Remarkably Les Paul is still alive, now well into his nineties but still musically active and as influential as ever, a true musical icon in an age when there are not many of them left.
Settle back and enjoy a genius at work!
