This lavishly-illustrated, specially-priced 2-CD set and book ‘In Search of Vivaldi’ is released at the same time as the album ‘Indispensable Vivaldi’ to mark the summer festival ‘Venice/Vivaldi/Versailles’ that was staged at the Palace of Versailles in June and July. It brings together many of the leading interpreters of Vivaldi’s work performing music from his operas, concertos and sacred music, all featured in Naïve’s prestigious Vivaldi Edition. The roster of artists includes conductors Jordi Savall, Rinaldo Alessandrini and Jean-Christophe Spinosi, singers Sandrine Piau, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Magdalena Kozena and Philippe Jaroussky, as well as great instrumentalists such as Rolf Lislevand and Christophe Coin. And the beautiful book covers Vivaldi’s life, his character and his music, and the Venice of the composer’s time, while illustrations include portraits and manuscripts. With texts of the sung pieces and a discography, it’s an ideal introduction to the celebrated composer and a notable companion for those who already enjoy his music.
