Garner recorded Concert By The Sea in September 1955 at a hall in Carmel, California, filled with local jazz fans and servicemen bussed in from a nearby military base. Doubtless, Garner had no idea what he was going to play. Only one thing was definite – it would be a single concert. The original eleven-track version of the album was richly rewarded when it sold a million copies. The One World concert tracks stem from a 1962 performance at the Seattle World’s Fair. Released by Reprise that same year, it was hailed as Erroll Garner’s first live concert recording in seven years and the first in stereo.
