Decca presents a 32-CD set comprising the complete works of Bartók – one of the most important composers of the 20th century. This set brings together Bartók’s monumental orchestral and stage works, folk music arrangements, extensive piano works as well as chamber and solo instrumental works. The set is accompanied by two extensive booklets featuring a new note by Kenneth Chalmers, tracklists and sung texts in original language and English translations. Also featured are three bonus CDs with additional interpretations.
Includes new recordings of never before recorded early piano works and vocal works (from Daniel Lebhardt, Mária Celeng, Gyula Nagy and Simon Lepper), plus the new recording of 44 Duos for Two Violins by the Nemtanu sisters.
Recordings from some of the greatest Bartók interpreters: Iván Fischer, Georg Solti, Pierre Boulez, Antal Doráti, Christoph von Dohnányi, Zoltán Kocsis, Martha Argerich, Stephen Kovacevich and others.
Includes three bonus CDs with additional interpretations including Andor Foldes, Julius Katchen, Stephen Kovacevich and Sviatoslav Richter for piano works, piano concertos from Géza Anda and Ferenc Fricsay and a 1939 recording of the 2nd Violin Concerto played by Zoltán Székely, for whom the piece was written.
Includes works not included in Hungaroton’s Complete Edition (from 2000)
