For his fourth recording on the ATMA Classique label, Berlin tenor Jan Kobow returns with Schwanengesang, a disc devoted to lieder by Schubert and Mendelssohn. The natural affinity that Jan Kobow maintains with melody, in particular with the German romantic lied, makes this recording a must. The strength of this Swan Song by Schubert, which he composed shortly before his death, lies in the fact that the poems are absolutely inseparable from the music. In fact, it is music that gives poetry its full meaning. In addition to the program, we find the Six Lieder on texts by Heinrich Heine, Mendelssohn.
