An inspired and original project by pianist Sandro Russo, ‘Scarlatti Recreated’ presents nineteen tracks which are transcriptions of Domenico Scarlatti’s keyboard sonatas and works inspired by and in the style of Scarlatti. These compositions for piano range from the nineteenth century to the present day and this album includes four world-premiere recordings (Brassin, Czerny, Habermann).
Sandro Russo displays his own inventive and masterful playing style on this collection of works by Carl Tausig (Capriccio; Sonata), Louis Brassin (from 3 Morceaux), Enrique Granados (selections from Ventiseis Sonatas Ineditas), Carl Czerny (Sonata in the Style of Domeinco Scarlatti), Ignaz Friedman (Pastorale; Gigue), Charles-Valentin Alkan (Duettino), Marc-Andre Hamelin (Etude VI: Omaggio a Domeico Scarlatti), Jean Francaix (Hommage a Scarlatti), Raymond Lewenthal (Toccata alla Scarlatti), and Michael Habermann (Homage to Domenico Scarlatti).
